Impressa S9 thermoproblem?
#1
Hi!

In the last few months my S9 has developed a new problem. Sometimes after making several cups in a row (especially then) it might trip the fuse for the kitchen and all power is gone. So therefore I thought I would open it today to have a inside look at it.

I discovered that the thermoblock looks really messy (attached picture).

My question is if this might be the problem in some way or if that's a separate problem (which needs to be fixed anyhow I guess)?

From looking at the picture, can you tell if it's the actual thermoblock or something else leaking?

If it's likely to be the thermoblock itself which is leaking will the BND Reparatursatz für den Jura Thermoblock fix the problem or do I need to completely replace the thermoblock with a new unit?

Regarding the problem that the machine sometimes trips the fuse, is that related to the controller PCB ("Leistungselektronik") or should I look elsewhere?

Thank you for any good tips regarding this so I can order new BND parts! :-)

I've actually had a look now when rinsing the unit and making coffee and it's leaking water from the thermoblock itself (mainly from the left hose (legris connector?)) and it ends up on the metal tray underneath the thermoblock. Naturally if you make multiple cups that will mean that the water will drip on the parts below the metal tray (when the metal tray is full of water) as well. Again, could the Reparatursatz be enough for the thermoblock or is the thermoblock "end of life" (after some 15,500 cups)?

The lime has destroyed the thermal block from the inside to outside. I think a complete exchange is more save. You should also check the steam header on the uper side. Could be with lime also.
Often the plastic connectors also defective

The water runs to the transformator and then the fuse triggers.

Thanks!

Actually the screws didn't unscrew properly and the thermoblock was wasted as well as the hose being stuck in one of the legris connectors. I ordered a new thermoblock from BND (they are super!) and it arrived today. I've connected everything except for the cables going into the pump, sadly I didn't take a good photo of it before I took things apart and I'm a bit unsure if it's correct right now, I'm currently surfing for a close-up picture of the pump and it's connections but haven't found any good pictures yet.

Happy days - the machine is up and running again! Hopefully it will continue to do so for a while now... :-) Thanks to BND for the quick response and shipping!
